If you had your chrome shortcut disappear and you were getting notifications that you being blocked from re-adding chrome to your taskbar and or desktop. Please follow these steps to get the issue resolved.
Over the weekend Microsoft came out with a new Security update which will allow you to re-create your shortcuts for Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Firefox. So please make sure that your desktop/laptop is fully up to date. Once all the updates have been completed please restart your device to finalize the process. Once you have logged back in you will more that likely have to re-add your chrome shortcut. To create a new shortcut please follow these steps.
Open your file explore(Yellow folder at the bottom of your screen) and navigate to This PC
Once you are at This PC click on your C: drive
Once you have that open find your folder labeled Program Files. Click on it and look for Google.
Open that folder and click on chrome and then application. Once on the application folder you should see Chrome
Right click on chrome and a select create shortcut. It will yell at you saying that it can not place the short cut in this folder and that it wants to move it to the desk top, click on yes. If all the steps are done correctly you should have chrome back on your desktop. However if you have any troubles or issues please feel free to reach out to IT via ticket.
